Baby Stroller Cleaning Tips and Ideas
To ensure the safety and health of your baby it is necessary to maintain his or her stroller. Being your baby’s main means of transportation, the stroller is one of the most used device by a child. It endures all sorts of external dirt, such as dust, and is often damaged in the car or on public transport. Here’s our guide to maintaining a stroller.
Cleaning A Stroller
The interior of a stroller needs to be cleaned daily to avoid sticking and dust. To do this, take time to dry-off the stroller fabrics before placing your baby inside. As soon as a dirt is spotted, clean it immediately with a damp sponge and a little dish-washing liquid. From time to time, you can also unwind the stroller and wash with a soft sponge. Ensure to dry all parts properly to prevent dampness and rust.
If your stroller has a moldy dirt, bleach is the most effective product to get rid of. Be careful because it is a very dangerous product especially for babies. Before using, protect hands with household gloves and choose a well-ventilated room for cleaning. Keep your baby away from the room or do this only when your child is away from home. After all safety measures have been taken, pour bleach on a cloth wrapped in a ball and dab it. Rinse and dry the cleaned part thoroughly. Avoid breathing vapors from bleach when cleaning.
Less toxic, but just as effective, you can use borax powder to remove mold on the stroller’s cover. With this product, the coating can be completely cleaned with a sponge soaked in hot water and borax. The advantage of the latter is that it allows the stroller to be detached, deodorized and disinfected. You can also use hydrogen peroxide to remove this moisture, only drawback, it discolors.
Clean Metal Structure And Wheels
Just a sponge moistened with hot water and a few drops of dish-washing liquid to wash the metallic structure of a stroller. The same applies to the chassis. For rust stains, use an onion cut in half to remove it. If the stroller has too much wear, spread Spanish white on the chrome and let it dry. Plastic parts should also be cleaned. To do this, use only a sponge soaked in soapy water.
Maintain The Wheels Of A Stroller
The wheels are undoubtedly the dirtiest part of a stroller since it is in permanent contact with the ground wherever you go. It is then recommended to check the wheels from time to time and clean them.
As with bicycles, the axles of a stroller also need lubrication. To do this, disassemble the axles of the wheels in order to remove the hair that entangles them and to better clean the ball bearings. Then use a liquid for degreasing and cleaning. Thanks to this process, certain sliding parts can easily be removed.
For a stroller to last in time and keep its new condition, a small maintenance is necessary daily. This begins with the passage of a small vacuum cleaner after and before each use to get rid of the dust and ends up greasing the axes. Moreover, the stroller keeps all the microbes and impurities of the day and can bring risks of allergy to the baby if it is not well cleaned.
The choice of a stroller is a real puzzle, so it is better to maintain it when we found the model we need.
